January Sales ft. Lush!

I know January is almost over (finally!) and the sales have pretty much come to an end but I thought I'd share with you the things I did get just after Christmas. I was away all over /christmas and new year and I knew I wanted to try and grab some stuff from the Lush sale this year. I know it's really popular and sells out fast and sometimes even crashes the server. As I was 8 hours behind the UK I was able to log on at 4pm instead of midnight to try and grab some bargains, this worked out in my favour as it meant I wasn't staying up all night! I managed to grab 3 gift sets, I didn't really look too much at what was in them to be honest but I trusted that they would be good items because I've never heard a bad thing about Lush and it gave me a chance to try out something new for a small price.

I picked 3 gift sets. The house of fun, Winter Wonderland and Christmas candy.

The house of fun comes packaged in a cute house! Which is obviously full of fun inside.
Included in this gift set was:
Space girl bath ballistic
Whoosh shower Jelly
Party popper bath ballistic
Rocket reusable bubble bar

In the Winter Wonderland set was:
Dream Cream body Lotion
Snowcake soap

The Christmas candy set had:
Rock star soap
butterball bath ballistic
Snow Fairy shower gel
popcorn lip scrub
Candy mountain bubble bar

A lot of these items I've never used before, but I've been loving them all and a few I've used already. I was a bit worried about using the snow cake soap for the first time what with all that gold dust on it, I was afraid I'd get out the bath looking like a glittery stripper but thankfully this never happened!

Did you manage to get your hands on any Lush goodies in the after Christmas sales?

Fairy Drops Scandal Queen Mascara

I've wanted to try out this mascara for a while now and I managed to pick it up in the states sometime last year. It's currently not available in the UK but places like ebay might have it. This mascara was created by Japanese TV personality to try and create more of a curl in straight lashes. The first thing that attracted me to this was the shape of the brush, I'd never seen a brush shape like this. Before buying I'd watched numerous youtube videos where people swore by this mascara and thought it was the best thing, so I was hoping it would have a similar effect on my lashes.

There's been so much hype around this mascara I wanted to see for myself if it lived up to it. I've had a while to try it out now and I just can't get it to work for me. The first thing I noticed was the fibre's in the brush, these are supposed to lengthen your lashes. I found them incredibly annoying. The brush itself it too soft for me, I can't feel it on my lashes so can't really tell if it's coating them properly. The other thing is that it clumps like crazy on my lashes, I hate the clumpy '3 thick lashes' look. There is a difference between clumpiness and volume and this just got on my nerves. Now I know this works for a lot of people, and helps hold a curl but this did nothing for me, I'm sad to say. Maybe it is because I have naturally long and curly lashes, I'm not sure but I won't be repurchasing this as it's not cheap.

Have you tried this mascara? What did you think?

Nail of the day: Glittery Blue

Today's NOTD is a mix of Headliner and Glass Slipper by Ciate. I got these in my Ciate advent calendar. As I spent Christmas away I never got a chance to really test out most of the polishes so I finally got around to using some. I'm in love with the colour blue and was happy to see this sparkly blue polish. I couldn't wait to use it, so I layered it over the teal colour and love the final result. I must love this colour a lot because I realised it's almost the exact shade of my iPod haha

Bargain Shopping Haul

I'm probably not alone when I say I love sales, discounts and bargains when shopping. One store I like to go to every now and then is the boots clearance store. As the name says it's basically a big boots store with discounted items. This store can be very hit and miss, sometimes I'll go in and find lots of things I like other times there'll be nothing worth looking at. If I know I need a new item from boots, like soap and glory products, I always try to come here first. A while ago I made a visit here and I managed to get all of this for just £30.

I picked up a few soap and glory products which had great discounts. Slim Wear £1  and Scrub your nose in it £3. I've repurchased Scrub your nose in it in the past after loving the product so I picked up another back up for when I run out. I've never used Slim Wear so hopefully I will love this too!

I then got this body exfoliator Sugar Crush, I've never used this until now and I love the lime smell it's really nice fresh and fruity. I think this is the old packaging too so it might look different in stores now. This was £2.

The other 2 soap and glory products were Mighty Mouth and Return to Slender. I've used Mighty Mouth before and think it's great for putting in your handbag to keep lips hydrated. Return to slender is a new one for me so hoping it's as good as the rest.

The christmas cards were 50p so I picked those up (everything was bought before Christmas) and the 17 eyeshadow and blush were 75p each. Never used this brand before so for this price I thought I'd try it out. I love blue eyeshadow and the blush was a nice neutral shade.

The harajuku perfume was £3 so I picked it up, it's only a 10ml bottle but I really loved the smell. It's the G summer scent so I'll probably be using this in the summer. The small size also means it's great for when I travel.

The Lancome palette was the biggest spend at £15, which was about half price. I think the original price was £30/£35. I'll probably do a separate post on this, but the colours were a matte black and some greys/silvers.

For anyone wondering where the boots store is, it's the one in Beckton so if you're ever in the area or live in London you can take a trip out if interested.

Ted Baker goodies

Yesterday I braved the snow to go to Wimbledon because my sister was having an audition there. Whilst she was in there I went browsing around the shops in the town centre. I popped into Ely's, one of the department stores, they had one of the best sales going on, lots of really good prices. I managed to pick up a few things, but as I've promised myself to cut down on shopping/spending/buying I tried not to get carried away. There were so many beautiful things in this store. I only picked up two things from Ted Baker. I never used to like this brand but lately I've loved everything from them.  can't get enough of the bows! I'm not supposed to buy any more shoes this year because I have SO many but these were on sale! (You know how it is lol)

The first thing was a pair of ballet flats. They kind of remind me of the Vivienne Westwood Melissa Flats (which are also on my wish list!) I chose black because they are the ones that would go with almost everything and I'd get the most use out of them. And as you may know already, I love anything glittery!

These were originally £55 reduced to £28

The other thing I bought from Ted Baker was something I'd been looking at for a while, one of their washbags/makeup bags. I'd been looking at the pink and black one for a while but as these had all sold out I went with the purple and blue which are two colours I love anyway. Again with a glittery bow! This was £29 reduced to £14.50.

Juicy Couture's new perfume! Couture La La

Juicy Couture recently debuted a new perfume called "Couture Lala" It's been out in the UK for a couple of weeks now but I was lucky enough to buy this back in early December where it premiered at Macy's.

I love and own all of Juicy's fragrance's except one, that being Juicy Couture. I'm not sure what it is about the first perfume but it never really caught my attention, I know it's very popular in the makeup/perfume world but it just never did anything for me no matter how many times I smelled it or how much I wanted to love it I just didn't. So after spotting this on the Macy's website, and doing a little research I knew I had to smell this. Here's the promotional description:

A little punk rock, a lot of free spirit. She’s classic Juicy, unexpected, daring and always couture. Like the color pink, she is perfection. She is Couture La La. Couture La La blends bright sparkling mandarin with bold white florals for a fragrance experience that captures the essence of femininity and daring allure of the unexpected.

As with all Juicy Couture perfumes, they know how to make a bottle look amazingly pretty and this one doesn't fail to either. I love the backwards bow, and the pink bottle. It has been described as a tribute to the original Juicy Couture perfume but a more punk-rock up to date version of it.

I've had this for nearly 2 months now so have had time to get to grips with it and while I like it, I was expecting something better from Juicy. It's a very 'nice' scent but I feel like it could have that bit more wowness to it, if that even makes sense. My favourite fragrance of theirs would definitely be Viva La Juicy and I know this is a big favourite of a lot of people, when you smell it it just has that wow factor. This for me is just ok. Of course I don't hate it by any means, it's a very nice day scent I think or even night, but it doesn't last very long on the skin, at least on me. Once on it just seems to fade.

This is now available from most stores that carry Juicy Couture products.

Have you tried the new fragrance yet? What do you think? Is it a hit or a miss?
